I was asked to review a few flavors from Royal Hawaiian Orchards Macadamia Nuts and since I LOVE Macadamia nuts I thought I would give them a whirl. Truth be told, I never buy them for myself simply because I didn’t think of them as being healthy but I was wrong.
Macadamia Nuts are not only a tropical indulgence but boast good-for-you benefits including being high in monounsaturated fats and low in cholesterol. Royal Hawaiian are also non-GMO Project Verified, OU Kosher, and free of gluten, wheat, sulfites and cholesterol and without anything artificial.
The latest in a line of savory and salty Macadamia nuts are the Dark Chocolate Macadamias. I was sent the following delicious flavors:
Dark Chocolate Blueberry Acai – The dark chocolate and the blueberry and acai were perfect together. I love blueberry and dark chocolate so for me this was the ultimate pairing of goodness.
Dark Chocolate Blackberry Goji – The blackberry goji reminded me of the blueberry acai a lot, not much of a taste difference to me, so with that being said, I loved them.
Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Mango – I am not a fan of either pomegranate or mango but gave this one a go and was pleasantly surprised. I did like the flavors with the dark chocolate.
What I noticed with all of the products is the fact that there aren’t any overpowering flavors. The fruit and the chocolate compliment one another so well that there isn’t a fight over which one you are tasting, you are tasting them as one. You can also taste the macadamia nut, which is surprising that it wasn’t buried under all the other flavors. Again, the flavor is light and not super heavy.
I really liked them all, but I am a fan of dark chocolate regardless. If I had to choose a flavor that I liked best it would have to be the Dark Chocolate Blueberry Acai, although again, they do taste very similar to the Blackberry Goji.
I decided to place them out for the holidays and my family went nuts (pun intended) over them. I think the overall favorite out of the three for the family was the Blueberry Acai.
